Bingen to Heppner

This is a 200k route from Bingen Washington on the Columbia River, just north of Hood River Oregon, to Heppner Oregon, western gateway to the Blue Mountains. The estimated elevation gain for this route is 9,000 (bikely.com). Past elevation gain measurements have indicated an additional 1,000 ft elevation gain. The route crosses the John Day river providing a good downhill and long uphill. The route also passes through Condon Oregon where there is a large wind ranch.

There is an ATM at the Eastern Bank of Oregon located one block south of the Motel on Main Street. The Central Red Apple Market is located on Main Street another half block further south. The Willow Creek Diner and Bakery and R&W Drive Inn are located near the Motel and there are several other taverns that serve food further south on Main Stret.
